As Executive Vice President and Partner at MRA Group, Phil Butler is the operational backbone of the firm. He leads with both insight and precision, overseeing operations and finance across MRA’s platform, including debt, equity, and investor relations. Since joining MRA in 2018, Phil has raised and strategically deployed more than $500 million in capital, fueling MRA’s continued innovation and growth. Phil is known for his unique ability to see the big picture while connecting critical dots across processes, people, and platforms. His deep understanding of organizational dynamics enables him to build operational frameworks that maximize efficiency and align seamlessly with the firm’s strategic goals. In addition to his operational role, Phil is instrumental in advisory services, helping healthcare and education executives align real estate strategy with organizational priorities.
Prior to joining MRA, Phil co-founded a successful real estate consultancy that focused on portfolio strategy and urban infill development. He began his career as a CPA with PwC and went on to hold key leadership roles at Toll Brothers, CBRE, and Ally Financial–each one adding a layer to his broad financial and operational expertise. Phil is also committed to giving back to the communities that MRA serves. Having formerly served on the board of Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia and other Philadelphia-based civic organizations, Phil is now on the board and is the immediate past President of the Philadelphia chapter of NAIOP, and chairs the Finance Committee for both the Philadelphia Youth Sports Collaborative and I Choose to Win.
Phil lives in Ambler, Pennsylvania, with his wife and sons. Outside of work, Phil enjoys golf, motorcycle rides, and inspirational fiction like Robin Sharma’s “The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari,” a book that reflects his approach to balancing ambition with purpose.
