a 228,600 square-foot-data center at TEK Park in Lehigh Valley
July 18, 2008
Construction on the data center is currently underway, with the first phase to be completed by fall of 2008. Upon final completion, it is expected to
create and retain nearly 100 jobs in the region.
Plymouth Meeting, PA - MRA Group (MRA), a Philadelphia area developer announced today that DBSi, the region's leading provider of disaster
recovery services has signed a long term lease to open and occupy a 228,600 square-foot data center at the TEK Park campus in Breinigsville, PA. The first phase of construction on the data center is set to be completed by late fall of 2008.
"DBSi's decision to locate data center operations in the Lehigh Valley has meaningful implications for this region from both an economic and services standpoint," says Lawrence J. Stuardi, CEO, MRA Group. "The Lehigh Valley is
centrally located to New York, Washington D.C. and Philadelphia, cities with financial institutions and corporations that depend upon the security and disaster recovery services that DBSi offers. Through recent steps to enhance TEK Park's infrastructure, we were able to offer DBSi both the ideal location and technical infrastructure for its operations. Additionally, DBSi's move will bring over new jobs to the region, great news in these challenging economic times."
DBSi's lease follows a two-year effort by the real estate developer to enhance TEK Park's infrastructure to support Tier III or Tier IV level mission critical, data center operations.
Through MRA's efforts, the campus' electrical and mechanical infrastructures were reinforced, culminating in the major purchase and installation of six, 2,000 kilowatt Cummins generators, providing backup power for five days at full capacity should there be a power failure.
"When we considered TEK Park's location and its impressive infrastructure, we knew that it was the right place for us," says William Bachenberg, CEO, DBSi. "MRA is widely recognized for its expertise in providing high-level, forward-thinking real estate solutions. We're looking forward to working closely with them to facilitate our expansion in the Lehigh Valley."
DBSi's win for the data center was the result of a collaborative effort between MRA, Wall Street West, the Berks Economic Partnership and the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation; partners dedicated to the development of the Berks/Lehigh region.
